Winter is a great time of year to "Deer Watch". Best places to try are Old Canaan Road, and Halls Stream Road, River Road. Deer are abundant in the North Country. In the winter, the deer live near open water sources such as the Connecticut River.

In the summer deer are commonly seen along Rte in similar areas to the moose; north on Rte 3 between First Lake and the Canadian border.
