Autumn comes early to the mountains of northern NH. More than 80 miles north of the White Mountains, is New Hampshire's Great North Woods. Colors begin to change as the calendar flips its page to September. The leaves change and are beautiful all month peaking at the last two weeks of September. That's nearly 2 weeks ahead of the White Mountains.

With our northern location, there are less leaf peepers than the White Mountain region of New Hampshire. This is a quiet, outdoor destination located 13 miles south of the US / Canadian border.

Moose begin their 'rut' in early to mid-September. This is the BEST time to see bull with their antlers at their seasons fullest growth. Moose re-grow their antlers each year to impress the lady moose. Large bull moose are often seen in September!

Late season trout fishing is another popular pastime September. The warm days and crisp evenings cool the waters and trout fishing is great!
