Hello everybody and welcome to another exciting week on the water. This week has been very much a treat for myself. I've been guiding every single day. I been fortunate with my guest this week and they've been open minded to doing something different. So we've been exploring some of the smaller streams and some of the upper stretches of the Connecticut. It's been a nice variety for myself and the fishing has been fantastic. We were fishing lots of big dries to very eager fish and not seeing another angler all day. For me that's great fishing.
I did spend a few days down below the dams where albeit the water has been moving,( the water levels are still high), and there has certainly been more crowds. The fishing in these stretches have been Awesome. I know the wading has been tough, I've even fallen in myself. This past week the Fish and Game dept. put in another generous amount of fish for this up and coming weekend. We've been also fortunate because of the higher waters some of our fish have been moving up from the lake.
The weather up here in the past week has been what we would expect for this time of the year. We've been having some fronts move through with some heavy torrential rains. Every once and while this will certainly mess things up for us and the fish will shut down. But even up in Pittsburg when the fishing is slow it's still pretty good. There's been a lot of great stories around recently of the wonderful days people have. There's been a few folks catching lots of fish trolling 1st Connecticut lake going into the evening and using nothing more than sinking lines and streamer flies. We even had a father and son team, that from a reliable source said: they hooked and landed nearly 30 fish in just one morning. That is certainly a possibility there are just a bunch of fish that just never see a fly. The real problem is there is so much water so little time.
You all should get up here and take full advantage of this situation. Hope to see you all soon.
Tight lines and keep that rod tip up. PEACE BILL
