Bill's River Blog

Hello to all, happy memorial day weekend. Yes, it's already here, essentially the first real and one of many trips and vacations of the summer and fishing season.
We up here in the north country have been fishing as regularly as we possibly can. The fishing has been very active as of late. We still have very excellent water temps, and the rivers below First lake and Lake Francis are now back in good shape and the water levels are ideal for wading. It seems as though the salmon are still in good numbers at the mouth of Francis and with the water temps at 50 degrees it looks like we may have an extended season. Recently we've had a spell of hot weather which has kick-off the insect activity and it has been known to catch a few on a B.W.O or a Hendrickson pattern.
For this weekend the Fish and Game have been busy stocking the upper and lower sections of river and many of the small ponds in the area. The gates on the logging roads are now open and this offers a wide variety of fishing opportunities of all anglers of skill and desire. There have been reports of many satisfied anglers enjoying the wonderful weather and catching a few fish also. Albeit there are a few other people out there that we have to share the water with, it sure beats working.
Recently we've been venturing out to the Androscoggin river in Errol N.H. This is one of our favorite areas to float in the early season. We've been finding a few trout and other species to keep the trip interesting. We suspect the river will really come into its own within the next week or so. The water temps are perfect and the levels are dropping nicely.
It just keep getting better.
Tight Lines, PEACE BILL
