Good afternoon fellow anglers and anglerettes. What's the news from the north country? It's wet !!! We have just come off a week of abnormally high water flows, the likes of which have never been seen. Although the wading has been slightly more difficult and the fishing opportunities have been slightly limited. The fishing has been pretty darn good.
The fishing on the Magalloway stretch has been holding steady with our early salmon run. the water temps are still ranging between 47 and 51 degrees. We've been fishing a lot of streamers and nymphs, and as of recently there has been some dry fly activity. There has been enough B.W.O's that will bring the salmon to the surface. The inlet to Lake Francis has been fishing well, although the increase in water flows has slowed the activity a little and the pressure of other anglers sometimes makes it a little bit crowded. But there have been nice salmon and rainbows caught there amongst the crowds.
With the latest round of high water we've been taking this opportunity to fish some of the trout ponds of the north country. These ponds have recently been stocked with brook and rainbow trout, the fishing has been very good. We've been catching some good numbers and fish that even range into the 2 to 4 lb range.
We are starting to look towards a little drier weather in the near future. With this and the up and coming weekend, we're looking forward to some more great fishing. Hopefully the water flows can start to get back to normal and we'll head properly into wonderful fishing opportunities.
We look forward to seeing you all up in the north country.
Remember, it's always a great of fishing, just sometimes you catch more fish.
Tight Lines, PEACE BILL
