NH Fishing the Connecticut River Fly Fishing

Good morning, afternoon and evening to one and all.

Fishing in the northern most part of New Hampshire has been less than predictable. The weather for the last week is as about the same. Earlier this week we were experiencing extreme heat and humidity. (Which is very unusual for us) just about mid week we received some badly needed rain. And as recently we are experiencing cool slightly damp weather with below normal temperatures. "Yeah it's down right chilly out" very fall like. We'll just have to wait and see what tomorrow will bring.

So what's going with the fishing? We'll with the weather changes and still the low water levels at times it had a tendency to be slow. But there seems to be plenty of fish and most people have been very please with it.

With this recent cooling event it has really helped out our ponds and also the small tributary streams. We've had some real cool evening temps and a touch more rain in the system. This really has seemed to bring them back to life.

We've been fishing every single day and doing all kinds of from the small ponds to the section below 2nd Connecticut lake to the drift boat trips and all have been from what we can tell excellent. All aspects have pointed to there just being lots and lots of fish around. This past week we've found that on certain days the amount of salmon and some decent size is unbelievable. What a hoot, watching people hook into there first real Landlock salmon, especially on a dry fly. (That's just fun.)

We have just received a new boat into the fleet. It's a Makenzie drifter,14'  3 person, inflatable pontoon boat. I think it should work out just fine. It should certainly open up new waters for our drifting capabilities. I already had it out twice. There are a few bugs I have to work out of the system. But I like it. The floats were successful, we've caught fish both times and only broke one 700$ fly rod. So all and all it was wonderful. A good guide friend of mine always says,"if you ain't breaking rods you ain't having fun. That's a whole lot of fun..

The weather is weather and the fishing is fishing, but God doesn't deduct from ones life a day spent on the water. You all should come on up and check things out, it's a pretty cool place(especially now) up here.

Happy Holidays and tight lines,    PEACE    BILL
