Blog, entry 526/61... Willy's special proved to be a great success. Anglers have descended and the river is a hot bed of activity. Some seasoned veterans are in tall cotton while others struggle with the frustration of trying to outwit the wiley Salmonides????

Yeah, fishing been pretty darn good. The water levels have been holding fairly steady for the past week. The flows in the trophy stretch are a little low for my liking but with the overflow from the dam it is at an alright level. The flows below Murphy dam are low and the Androscoggin has dropped to 1462 c.f.s. We have had some rain just the past couple of days, which has brought the smaller creeks up and clouded the river a touch. We can certainly use the rain we've had an awfully dry spring so far. We're suppose to get more rain this week.

We've been fishing all over the place, and doing a ton of different guiding, from drifting the Connecticut and Androscoggin, to fishing the small streams for wild brookies and the no kill for wild salmon to getting off the back roads to fish some beaver ponds.

We've had really cool nights lately waking up to frost on some mornings so it's kept the water temps down and the day time temps comfortable. We've been catching fish everywhere and finding now that the fish are starting to spread out more. Our fish have been real cooperative for the most part, with having some great success giving fairly new anglers good opportunities to hone their skills. This is a great way to learn new tactics and break into the new season with some well deserved confidence. But, and there's always a but with that said, we did have any afternoon over on the Andro where it did just seem like they shut off, and talking to other anglers seem to be that way on the whole river. Go figure??

Well if you've often thought of taking up the sport of fishing and fly fishing in particular, or just getting up here to do some fishing. This is the time and place to do it. The season is only going to get better from here and there is always places to get in and fish. I spent the other day guiding four anglers, and we spent the majority of the catching fish and did not see another angler. So my point is get your BUTTS up here and lets do some fishing together.

   PEACE  tight lines BILL
