Hello to all and "Thank You" for checking in with us today. Obviously you all must be interested in whats happening up here in the north country. Well it's been raining then it will clear for a day or so, then it rains again. We have had a dry spring up until the past few weeks or so. We've had a lot of rain, which has caused a lot of problems in our rivers. This past week I think they've been out of sorts more often than they have been in. And with having more rain today and the lakes already being high it will be interesting to see what happens.
We'll enough of the doom and gloom. In all reality the fishing has actually been o.k. The water is high and the wading has been tough but with some perseverance and luck the fishing has been good. The plus side to the water being high is that there is still some really nice salmon around and the fish are eating.
We've had some great days on the floats and on some of the ponds this past week. With the hot days and humid weather it has been perfect for some dry fly activity in the evening. We had one night on a local pond this past week where the B.W.O.'s were disgustingly thick and every fish in the pond was rising. We had another couple of great evenings there after on the drifts. One night we landed a 16 and a 17 inch beautiful browns both takin on a dry fly. And the the night after with threats of rain the B.W.O.'s where coming off and the fish were rising not even ten feet from the boat. Every once and a while all the time put in while not in ideal situation, at sometime it will turn around and reward you.
As I have mentioned prior the ponds have been fishing really. We have seen quite a few other anglers on the water down through town and in the Colebrook area. They few people we have spoken to have all reported some very favorable days on the water. Also with some others they have bragged about the 5 pound brookies the have caught in the local ponds.
Who knows what will happen as this week transpires, but the truth be known even with some of the rivers blown, if your versatile you will catch fish. And also with the rivers a little high it keeps away the faint of heart and leaves an abundance for those who are willing to slug it out. Hopefully we can get some lower water so we can head back over to the Andro and see how that's fishing.
So this is a great time to get up here before we get a little bit more crowded. Come on up and let us take you out. It will give us a great excuse to get on out.
So lets all be friendly and get out there.
PEACE tight lines,
BILL
