Hello to all and all alike and these be the words of an evening rant. We'll folks I hope all is well and we are safe and content.
Things up here in the North Country are, in a nut shell, the same. FISHING GREAT. As of right now there are more people fishing the area than we've seen in an awfully long time. The river at certain times of the day and in certain areas has been crowded. I am truly amazed at the fact that we can still consistently catch fish with that much pressure. Every day in certain areas you will see many other anglers fishing, although you don't see many other anglers catching fish. The water here is still at very low levels. This in turn allows anglers to walk and cross the water at random. This also allows anglers to walk right through very good, fish-able water. Even with the masses of people on the water, with a little skill and the proper techniques the fishing can be awesome.
With the massive onslaught of angler flogging, this has driven me to start to venture off the proverbial beaten path. Which in the last week has lead to just some magnificent wading. The fish haven't always been the largest, but just the fact that you don't see anyone else is an absolute delight. Of matter of fact, I just came off an outing like that. It's something I would like to do again.
The weather this week has been crazy. We've just received some well needed rain the lakes are starting to look somewhat filled again. There was a day earlier this week before the rain that was hazy, hot and humid. (That is not typical for us in the North Country.) We floated that day, albeit uncomfortable for us the fishing was pretty darn good. Almost all day long we fished dries and had great success." That was quite a treat." We've had a few other rain showers also though the week. One day just recently, we had two different weather fronts move though in just a few hours. "Talk about messing up the fishing"
As it has been for the past several weeks the water is low. Maybe with having more water in the system they will bring the levels up slightly, but who knows?
The temps today in the trophy stretch was 58 degrees and down below Murphy dam was 54 degrees. Perfect trout temps.
We'll you all take care and say Hi to everyone. We'll see you on the river. But please remember.Be courteous to other anglers, and lets give each other our respective amount of space.
There are a lot of people out there and we all have to play in the same sandbox.
Tight Lines, PEACE BILL
PEACE, BILL
