Hello

Good morning, afternoon, or evening which ever the case may be. A big hello to you all. Well folks guess what????? It's been raining and then it rained and then it rained a little and then a bunch more. Yeah so it's rained. Well right now our lower section of river is blown, which once again means our floats are out of the question. The few days this week that we were able to float it was actually pretty darn good. We had an evening here a few days ago that started off O.K. with a few fish rising and a few landed. Then it happened!!!!! A flying black ant hatch, the likes of which I have never seen. I've seen ants hatches before and other very prolific hatches but none that was as thick as these. They were almost to the point of blanketing the water. Every fish that was in that river was up rising. It truly gives you perspective on how many fish there are and where the big ones hang out. With that many fish feeding on the surface you would think it would be easy. But there is also a lot of competition with so many other insects. How do you make yours look any different? We went bigger, we went different color, different wing material. What worked?  We fished it wet and on the swing. Go figure..

We have actually had some pretty decent fishing while we've been wading around. The water flows are still at good levels in the trophy stretch and the water temps are great. And a few of our evenings have been fairly cool. So that means that our ponds have been doing O.K. also and below Murphy Dam up until the first tributary has been fishing quite well, although the just brought the levels up there to 1200 c.f.s. Which means it can fish well, but wading is right out.

So it's been a year of experimentation and perseverance. Just put your head down tighten up the cuffs on your NEW rain jacket, and jump right in. You can still find same great fishing it just may not be where or how what your use to. Get out try something new.

I think earlier in the season I asked for rain,   "I'm Sorry"

   PEACE tight lines,     BILL
