Hello!
Blah or blog? We'll I'll tell ya it's truly seems to be wearing thin. This rain and all. We get a slight glimmer of hope seeming as though we're going to round the corner and then right back into the same cycle all over again. Rain, not all day but often. This last bout seems to have been the worst. With the ground already saturated it has no place to go. We've had major floods this past week with road closures and people being evacuated. What a mess... It doesn't look so bad when I guess you only miss a day or two of fishing and not having your house wiped out.
So we're hoping to get back into a more normal rhythm and back into the flow of things. We still have been guiding quit a bit and the fishing has been good for the conditions and all. The ponds are fishing well and always a good way to spend a day or two in the evening. It's is nice to have some variety. We went bass fishing the other night and had a great time fishing surface poppers for large mouth. You can either make due with what you have or not fish at all. The later is hardly even an option for most folks.
You know what the real kicker is? The grasshoppers are out and we can't float the river. The floats on the Connecticut can be such great hopper fishing, and BOY what fun that is. So we'll just have to tighten the cuffs and pull up the hood on our rain jackets, keep our heads down and keep on keeping on. Every day is a new adventure and we still have plenty of season left so we'll see what happens .
Keep the faith and tight lines, The plus side is that we have bigger salmon up in the river again now.
PEACE BILL
