Bill's River Blog

August 7, 2009

Good evening one and all, I do apologize for being tardy with this weeks blog. The mind has a tendency to grow feeble as the season grows long, knees broken, body weary, mind only slightly focused gazing through a rain streaked windshield. Almost painful the rhythm as it beats endless. Yes, another day, rain, why not, that what it does, it certainly seems although it has at least quite a bit this season. But there is a silver lining, it's not as bad as it was last season and we definitely haven't had it as hard as you all down south. It's really only become problematic in the past week or so. It won't last it may not be back to so called normal for a while but it will get lower.

Lets face the facts. I'll lay it right out for you all. It's been to easy for to long. Now is when we pay for all the time we've been playing. If your crazy like me you'll tighten up the wading shoes break out the wading staffs and have at it. Right now there is lots of fish in the river that are not being pressured. Because most of all it's difficult. The water in the trophy is at 450 c.f.s. which is high, I've been told that it should be dropping to 350 or so by the end of this week. At least a little more reasonable.

So what have we been doing? Everything. We're still fishing everything and with great success. The floats have been high but we've been crushing fish and the evening hatch is as always fantastic. The trophy stretch with the high water is slightly challenging but still producing good numbers, the small streams have awesome water temps and great flows. And also the ponds awesome Caddis activity. And if you have the desire to go and just catch fish it always fun fishing for bass. I often think how lucky we are to have this fishery, it never ceases to amaze me.Wow, we should certainly count our blessings. If your up here and even with the unfavorable conditions, your not catching fish, you should really let us help (beware of impostors.)

The season believe it or not is growing short, fall for us will be moving in soon and the salmon are moving in now with this high water spell along with some nice browns and rainbows. Take some time for yourself sneak away and make yourself proud.

I'll see you up here soon

   PEACE   tight lines,   BILL       >~:'}}'>
