Bill's River Blog
Well we experienced the first taste of fall up here in the North Country this past week. It's been another odd season, a fair amount of rain, about a week or so of hot, humid summer, and now it's fall. That was quick. Yes I'm sure that we'll still have some Indian summer days, but it is all to apparent what lies ahead. But with the changing of the seasons another chapter will be revealed. Fall weather starts fish thinking about other things, and fish will start to move. We have been holding steady with our water flows as of lately. The trophy is at a lovely 250 c.f.s along with that approximately the same at 2nd lake dam and Murphy dam is pushing about 492 c.f.s. After the spell of warm weather we had a week or so ago. The water temps are returning to more normal level, and with the absents of rain the smaller tributaries are starting to drop to mid summer levels, (which means low). The fishing this past week has been fabulous as always. The floats on the Conn. and the Andro have just been absolutely delightful and the trophy stretch has had a recent stocking and some salmon have started to move up into the river. We still have great hatches of Stoneflies and Caddis and always the ever present B.W.O's although a few of the past evenings when it's gotten real cold fast, it has a tendency to shut down the evening hatch. There has been a fair amount of anglers around this past week, kinda the last hoorah before kids go back to school and people getting there final fix before the end of the season. The river will slow down a little as far as people traffic goes but the fishing albeit fantastic will only get better. Our guiding schedule if filling up fast for this fall season so if your interested give us a call. We have numerous experiences for all types and skill levels.
